Good Jewish Boy From Brooklyn

Have you ever wondered why God chose Bethlehem as the birthplace for Jesus. Why not rather have Him hail from modern-day New York. Yeah, maybe a folk singer from Brooklyn. So instead of the “Beatitudes,” maybe we’d be “Blowing in the Wind.”
Or imagine Jesus as a contemporary computer genius, advancing His message with up-to-the-minute technology. He may have admonished us to, “beware of the GIGO” – Garbage In, Garbage Out.
The Middle East is an antiquated culture in regards to religion, critical thinking and human rights. What you see today, is what Jesus dealt with then.
Recently 350 Muslims on a pilgrimage to Mecca were crushed trying to fulfill the ritual known as Hajj. This tragedy made me realize that Jesus must have stood out – like a swastika on a synagogue – in that culture and amongst that mindset. The light of the world!
